Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj, K. Pawan Kalyan, has revealed that the Andhra Pradesh government is keen on signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to share space knowledge and receive valuable advice.
He announced plans to discuss the possibility of signing an MoU with ISRO in the Cabinet meeting and subsequently make a decision.
Pawan Kalyan participated as the chief guest at the National Space Day 2024 programme held at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan emphasised the keen interest of Andhra Pradesh youth in space science. “An MoU will be signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and ISRO to share knowledge and provide valuable guidance to the youth. I will discuss this in the Cabinet and make a decision,” he stated.
“Future generations should be interested in space research. We will collaborate with ISRO officials to provide appropriate guidance, helping youth explore suitable employment or research paths in space science. We aim to foster increased interest in space research among students in both rural and urban areas. We will create a special MoU for this and work together to move forward. The primary objective is to cultivate interest in space research, particularly among the students and youth of Andhra Pradesh,” he noted.

“The Centre has been consistently increasing the budget to support ISRO’s experiments. The allocation for ISRO has risen from Rs. 5,615 crore in the financial year 2013-14 to Rs. 13,700 crore in the 2022-23 budget under the NDA government,” he pointed out, highlighting the government’s priority for space research programs.
“The Andhra Pradesh government will extend full support to ISRO’s ambitious Gaganyaan project,” Pawan Kalyan promised. He also assured that the government would address the poor condition of the 17 km road from Bucchinaidu Kandriga to SHAR by instructing the Collector to reconstruct it within five days, following a request from SHAR centre officials.
Director A. Rajarajan, Associate Director Syed Sameed, Controller M. Srinivasa Reddy, General Manager Shambhu Prasad, and others participated in the program. The Deputy Chief Minister later distributed prizes and appreciation letters to students and visited the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
