Splitsvilla fame Soundous Moufakir always wanted to become an actress and now she has said it out loud! Where she hails from Morocco, acting is always looked upon as a great career choice from the time Nora Fatehi brought honour to the country. She has been roped in to play Roma in the movie Continuity made by Soorma filmmaker and she can’t be more happier than this!
In an exclusive conversation with us, the bubbly actress says, “Born in Rabat, as soon as I turned eighteen, I moved to Paris to live an independent life. I was doing my masters in finance there! Our Nora Fatehi didn’t just rouse a motivation in us Moroccons but artists worldwide. I took the leap of faith, resigned as a financial analyst, and booked my tickets to Bombay to be who I always wanted to be.”
Endearing the audiences with her charming personality on Splitsvilla currently on air, showing how to stand up for friends — the debutant actress continues, “The reality television show Splitsvilla strengthened me mentally, I would love to be a part of Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming season of Lock Upp too. Doing such shows on television is like getting yourself tattooed, can never be undone what you show. I am not yet done with reality shows (she laughed).”
Ready with her debut film, she shares, “Initially I knew nobody here! I used to watch Roadies in Paris, can you imagine? As soon as I signed for these reality television shows: I didn’t shy away from showing my bold personality, as I am. You can find me fighting like a courageous warrior everywhere, don’t allow anyone else to speak on my behalf. This temperament was liked by the filmmaker and I was signed on. Shit-scared because I didn’t know Hindi at all. I learned a cuss word to protect myself in this industry.”
Ending the interview with a huge revelation, she revealed, “I was asked to “compromise” as a result of a big banner project and it will always be a haunting memory for me. Yes, I screamed a straightforward NO but what has changed after #metoo movement? I am not a desperate outsider that a casting agent can try to misuse me. It was so embarrassing for me here. We draw a boundary, can’t men read it?”
