Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer V Abhishek has announced the provision of special medical services for students affected by scabies in tribal welfare ashram schools. This initiative comes in response to recent cases identified during routine medical examinations.
On Wednesday, a team of dermatologists conducted a thorough medical examination at the GTW Ashram School (B) in Talarisingi. Out of 528 students screened, 108 were diagnosed with scabies. In response, the ITDA APO promptly distributed Ivermectin tablets and permethrin soap to the affected students. “The health and well-being of our students are our top priority,” stated the ITDA Project Officer. “This initiative is part of our broader effort to ensure that all students in tribal welfare schools receive the medical attention they need.”
Abhishek further elaborated on the success of previous interventions in March and April, where dermatologists examined students in Hukumpet and Paderu mandals. “The use of Permethrin soap and ivermectin tablets led to a 96 per cent reduction in scabies cases among the students. This remarkable success was reported to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which has since validated our findings,” he added.
