Special funds sought for local bodies

CPI-M Mudireddy district unit secretary Sudhakar Reddy demanded that the State government release special funds to the local bodies to prevent the spread of seasonal disease like dengue and chikungunya in villages.
The incessant rains that lashed the State has aggravated the situation. The local bodies lacked wherewithal to ensure proper sanitation. The local bodies lacked resources even to buy bleaching powder, he said. Mosquito menace was rampant in villages and towns and people were suffering from seasonal fevers and joint pains. He said that due to incessant rains and seasonal diseases, people are suffering from fever aggravated sanitation and garbage accumulated in the villages.
He said that in the last few months, there has been an increase in garbage accumulation and mosquito menace. He demanded that the authorities take special initiative and spray mosquito repellents in the villages, clean the dirty drains, organise medical camps in all the villages and make medicines available to the people.
