The three-day Octopus Annual Police Sports and Games meet concluded with great enthusiasm at the APSP 6th Battalion ground in Mangalagiri on Friday. The event was attended by chief guest, Octopus Additional DGP, RK Meena.
Meena expressed his happiness, stating that sports symbolise unity, and the meet was conducted in a festive atmosphere with tremendous zeal. He praised the event’s organisation, despite the lack of proper facilities, and highlighted the importance of fitness for police officers. He stressed how sports help relieve stress and promote teamwork. For a team to succeed, every member must work together harmoniously, which fosters a sense of unity among the participants.
He congratulated each participant and praised the successful conduct of 20 events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 5 km, and 10 km races, as well as shot put, javelin throw, and other track events. Games such as cricket, volleyball, badminton, shuttle, and tug-of-war were also part of the event.
The primary goal of the Annual Sports Meet was to promote healthy competition among various teams, focus on physical fitness, and underscore the importance of mental well-being and stress relief. Participation in sports offers much-needed relief from the pressures of police work, allowing officers and staff to connect with colleagues in a relaxed and peaceful environment.
The athletes participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their skills and talent. RK Meena also expressed his gratitude to the police officers, staff, coaches, attending police families, and media personnel.
In attendance at the event were RK Meena, Additional DGP, Octopus; S Senthil Kumar, DIG of Law & Order; Sumit Sunil Garud, Greyhounds Operations; and other officials, including IPS trainees, the 6th Battalion Commandant K Nagesh Babu, SP (Admin) M Nagendra Rao, and SP (Training) B Ravichandra.
