The IT, Commerce and Industries Minister of Telangana, Sridhar Babu, requested the Centre to help TG become a trillion-dollar economy in the next decade.
Speaking at the meeting of the National Business Council in Mumbai on Thursday, he emphasised the need for support to achieve Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision of a Rs 84 lakh crore economy.
He highlighted problems with schemes like the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES), which have not met expectations due to inadequate funding.
He proposed several measures to boost Telangana’s economy like establishing a unit in Nizamabad to produce turmeric powder and dyes.
Sridhar said that a rapid-drying plant should be established in Khammam or Mahbubabad to enhance the quality of chillies and meet the demand in export markets.
He called for setting up a spices lab in Nizamabad or Warangal for quality certification.

The Minister also requested the establishment of an irradiation plant to extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables.
