‘Swarnotsava’ programmes to explore talent of artists: Roja

Minister for Tourism, Sports and Culture R K Roja has said that the ‘Jagananna Swarnotsava’ cultural programmes are being organised to explore the talent of artists and bring them due recognition.

The Tourism minister, along with Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu, inaugurated the ‘Jagananna Samskritika Sambaralu’ zonal level completion in the Venkateswara Vignan manal on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, RK Roja said that artists from Guntur and Krishna were participating in the programme and recalled that NT Rama Rao and Krishna went to the cinema field from these districts and had risen to the level of superstars. She said that all artists participating in the competition register their details with the organisers.

Roja said that in addition to the implementation of welfare schemes for artists, they are given an opportunity to reflect the culture and traditions of AP at the national and international levels. She said that she would support the artists as an artist with the aim of taking the traditional arts of the ancient culture to future generations.

On the occasion of the birth of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Swornotsava cultural festival was celebrated in Rayalaseema by launching zonal level competitions. “As part of the promotion of arts in the state, the Culture Department is giving an award of Rs 5 lakhs in the name of Kuchipudi Natyam Pitamahulu Vempati Chinasatyam and Boibimanna Award with a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh to writers. The statue of Vangapandu was unveiled in Visakhapatnam, and financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh was given to their family. Rs 75 lakh was given to the family of National Flag Designer Pingali Venkaiah,” the Tourism minister informed.

Water Resources Minister Ambati Rambabu, Culture Department Chairperson Vangapandu Usha, MLC Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu, Legislative Council Whip Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, MP Nandigam Suresh, Collector M Venugopala Reddy, ZP Chairperson Heni Christina, MLC Lella Appireddy. Kalpalatha Reddy, MLAs Mohammed Mustafa, Maddali Giridhar, Namburu Shankara Rao, Kilari Venkataroshaiah, Dr. Undavalli Sridevi and Municipal Corporation Mayor Kavati Manohara Naidu were among those who were present.
