Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan are set to unveil a Backward Classes (BC) Declaration on Tuesday. The announcement is scheduled to take place during the ‘Jayaho BC’ seminar, slated to be held near Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU).
The event will witness the participation of key figures including Kinjerapu Atchen Naidu, the president of the TDP State unit, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, a member of the party’s politburo and former minister; Kollu Ravindra, chairman of the TDP BC Empowerment Committee, along with various senior leaders from both TDP and Jana Sena.
In a recent general body meeting held at the TDP headquarters under the leadership of Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, discussions were centred on the forthcoming BC Declaration. Atchen Naidu, briefing the media, emphasised the support of BCs towards the TDP and reiterated the party’s commitment to the community’s progress.
He urged party activists to ensure the success of Tuesday’s meeting, highlighting that the BC declaration has been meticulously crafted after considering multiple perspectives.
Addressing the challenges encountered by BCs, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu highlighted the ongoing struggle for social justice within the community. He emphasized the need for greater empowerment of BCs, citing concerns over existing economic policies exacerbating societal disparities.
Ramakrishnudu underscored the urgency of conducting a BC caste census, a long overdue demand. He pointed out that while such a census was last conducted in 1931 during British rule, subsequent calls for its implementation have gone unheeded. Ramakrishnudu affirmed TDP’s commitment to pressuring relevant authorities to initiate the much-needed census, prioritizing the welfare and representation of BCs.
