TDP leader escapes bid on life

A Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader escaped a bid on his life as a saffron-clothes-clad man tried to hack him with a sword at his house on Thursday.

TDP leader and former Mandal president Polnati Seshagiri Rao came out of his house to give alms to a saffron-clothes-clad person who appeared in Bhavani mala. When the TDP leader was pouring rice into the sling of the accused, he suddenly brought out a sword and hacked Seshagiri Rao but the alert TDP leader resisted him.

However, in the melee, the TDP leader suffered a deep cut on his hand and head and he collapsed in a pool of blood. The accused fled the scene. The TDP leader was shifted to the Apollo hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Former ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nimakayala Chinarajappa, and Konda Babu visited the victim in the hospital. The victim said that he suspects the hand of minister Dadishetti Raja in an attempt at his life.

TDP state president K Atchannaidu and national secretary Nara Lokesh condemned the murder attempt on the TDP leader. The police registered a case and visited the scene of the crime.
