Tension prevailed in Gudivada of Krishna district as TDP and YSRCP activists clashed on Sunday night.

TDP former MLA Ravi Venkateswara Rao alleged that YSRCP leader Merugumala Kali called him over the phone and threatened to kill him. He claimed that they are going to conduct the Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga death anniversary programme on Monday so Kali gave the warning to stop the programme and further threatened to kill him if he fails to do so. Venkateswara Rao reached the TDP office and informed about the warning to leaders and the cadre.

On learning about the threat, a large number of TDP activists rushed to the TDP office in Gudivada. Further, Kali and his followers also rushed to the TDP office. Clashes erupted between TDP and YSRC cadre and the police immediately tried to stop both groups and sent back Kali and others. But TDP activists tried to go to the house of Kali so they resorted to a lathi-charge. Heated arguments ensued between police and TDP cadre and the police, after arduous efforts, controlled the situation. The police said that they are going to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

TDP AP president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu condemned the attack by YSRCP on the TDP office. He alleged that YSRCP MLA Kodali Nani was behind the attack.
