The mortal remains of actor and young politician Taraka Ratna were consigned to flames as top Tollywood personalities, politicians and a large number of fans bid a tearful adieu to the Nandamuri scion in Hyderabad on Monday.
Earlier, the body was brought to Telugu Film Chambers in Jubilee Hills from his residence at Mokila on the city outskirts to enable people to pay their last respects. Nandamuri Taraka Ratna was cremated at Maha Prasthanam in Jubilee Hills. The last rites were performed by his father Mohana Krishna who lit the funeral pyre as hundreds of grief-stricken people and Nandamuri family members bid the actor a tearful farewell.
Hundreds of grief-stricken people turned up at Maha Prasthanam. Nandamuri family members including noted actor Balakrishna carried the body of Taraka Ratna.
Taraka Ratna’s father Mohana Krishna lit the funeral pyre as people with moist eyes watched.
Former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh, YSRCP leader Vijaya Sai Reddy, MP, Kalyanaram and among others were present on the occasion. Earlier, the body of Taraka Ratna was kept at the Telugu Film Chambers of Commerce in Film Nagar from his residence this morning to enable his fans and public to pay their last respect.
Forty-year-old Taraka Ratna, the grandson of legendary actor N T Rama Rao and son of Mohan Krishna collapsed due to cardiac problems in Kuppam of Andhra Pradesh on January 27 when he participated in a padayatra of his cousin Nara Lokesh. He died after battling for life for 23 days in Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore.
