GHMC Additional Commissioner Chandrakanth Reddy said that the government’s aim is to economically empower the women in the next five years with the Telangana Mahila Shakti scheme. The scheme was launched by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in March for the uplift of the Self-Help Groups (SHG) in the State.
Urban Community Develop ment (UCD) project officers, Town-Level Federation (TLF) officers held a meeting in the GHMC head office on Wednesday. UCD Joint Commissioner, officials of Industries Department, Food Processing Society and the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) participated in this programme.
Additional Commissioner (UCD) Chandrakancth Reddy said that officials should coordinate to create awareness on canteens, catering units, traditional cuisines, boutiques, DTP Xerox and tailoring on how to utilise the Mahila Shakti scheme.
This scheme aims to provide infrastructure, such as stalls for selling SHG-produced goods, training, financial assistance and other support to enhance the livelihood of women participating in SHGs.
Town-Level Federation (TLF) officers should create awareness to the SHG members. He said that canteens, food tracks, cold storage, catering services, service centres and construction equipment could be set up as major group enterprises under the scheme. Telangana pastries, pickle powders, dairy products, hand-made crafts, gift article shops, grocery stores and nurseries could be set up under Major Individual Enterprises.
