TSCOST to organise 31st Children’s Science Congress

The Telangana State Council of Science and Technology (TSCOST), in association with the School Education Dept., State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), will be organising the Telangana State-Level Event of the 31st National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC)  on Tuesday at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) and  Institute of Genetics, Begumpet, Hyderabad.
About 127 projects are qualified to participate in the State-level event from among 2,423 projects presented at the district-level events. About 400 child scientists, guide teachers, district coordinators, district academic coordinators, evaluators, resource persons and TSCOST officials from all over the State will participating in the event.
The focal theme announced by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India for the 31st NCSC, 2023, is “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being” and the sub-themes are Know Your Eco-system, Fostering Health, Nutrition and Well-being; Social and Cultural Practices for Ecosystem and Health; Ecosystem-based Approach for Self-Reliance and Technological Innovation for Ecosystem and Health.
Selected Science-based projects at the district-level events of NCSC will be presented by the respective child scientists (group leaders) at the State-level event before the jury members and will be evaluated based on their performance as per the guidelines of the National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC).  The evaluation process will be governed by scientists and academicians.
The National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) is catalysed and supported by the NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. It provides a unique opportunity for the child scientists to present their investigatory projects and interact with eminent scientists thereby creating a zeal for entering into the world of science and technology. TSCOST is the State Nodal Agency for the conduct of NCSC in the State of Telangana.
NCSC is organised at three levels district level, State level and national level for children belonging to age group from 10-17 years.  A group of children not exceeding two can do the project with the help of scientists, school teachers and coordinators of the school. The teachers or guides receive special orientation on the theme of the CSC every year.  As per the quota fixed in Telangana, 13 best projects will be chosen for presentation at the National Level Children’s Science Congress (NCSC).
