The Congress protested in Parliament with masks carrying the slogan ‘Modi-Adani Ek Hai’ on Monday, but in Telangana the Congress Government didn’t allow the BRS’s ‘Adani-Revanth Bhai Bhai’ protest.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators were detained by the police at the entrance of the Legislature on Monday as they tried to attend the Assembly session wearing
T-shirts with the slogan ‘Revanth-Adani Bhai Bhai.’
BRS MLAs and MLCs led by the party’s Working President, KT Rama Rao were stopped by the police and Assembly security guards at the gate as they were wearing T-shirts with an ‘objectionable’ slogan.
The legislators insisted they should be allowed to attend the session. This led to an argument between the two sides.
The BRS MLAs and MLCs told security officials that the Leader of the Opposition in the LS, Rahul Gandhi, and other Congress MPs attended Parliament session last week with similar slogans.
The BRS legislators raised slogans against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
As tension mounted, police detained the BRS legislators and took them away in police vehicles.
The detained BRS leaders included KTR , MLC K. Kavitha and MLA T. Harish Rao.
All the BRS legislators were dropped at the Telangana Bhavan, the party’s headquarters.
They staged a protest demonstration at the Telangana Bhavan and raised slogans against the Congress government.
Earlier, Opposition party MLAs and MLCs gathered at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial in front of the Assembly building. After paying tributes to martyrs, they walked towards the Legislature.
KTR accused the Congress government of ‘betraying’ the interests of Telangana by ‘favouring’ Adani. He questioned the inconsistency of Congress leaders, who, according to him, opposed Adani in New Delhi but supported projects benefiting the businessman in Telangana.
“Telangana’s resources are being ‘handed’ over to Adani in the name of development. Revanth Reddy’s hidden deals with Adani are against the interests of the state,” KTR said. He demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi clarify his party’s position on Revanth Reddy’s ties with Adani.
KTR lambasted the Congress for what he described as hypocrisy, stating, “Rahul protests against Adani in Parliament but remains silent when Telangana’s resources are given away.”
Highlighting the plight of local farmers, he accused the government of forcibly acquiring land to help Adani, particularly in Nalgonda district, where he said public consultations were bypassed to allocate vast tracts of land.
KTR expressed outrage at the police action, calling it a violation of democratic principles.
“Without the Speaker’s directive, stopping legislators from entering the Assembly is unconstitutional,” he said. He criticised the arrests and said that the Congress government is resorting to oppressive tactics to suppress dissent.
Reiterating the party’s resolve, KTR declared, “No amount of intimidation will stop the BRS from fighting for Telangana’s rights. We stand firmly with the poor, the farmers and everyone whose interests are being compromised by this government.”
The BRS has also decided to increase its protests in coming days, including plans to raise the issue in Parliament and other public forums, ensuring the alleged Revanth-Adani nexus remains a prominent political debate in Telangana.
