V&E officials find lapses in mid-day meals scheme

Officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement Department inspected 57 schools in various districts across Andhra Pradesh on Friday to ascertain information about the implementation of the mid-day meals scheme (Jagananna Gorumudda). During the inspection, the V&E officials observed various lapses in the implementation of the scheme.

They observed that the utensils were not sufficient for cooking in ZPHS, Pydibheemavaram, Srikakulam, and MPPS, Julapalli, Nandyal district. There were not sufficient eggs due to the delay in supply in MPT School, Daggubadu, ZPH School, Chintapadu, and ZPHS, Papameta.

In most of the schools, inspection by the higher officials (MEO/DEO) has not been carried out for the past few years. In most of the schools, the RO plant is not available. In ZPH School, Dharmajigudem, Eluru district, there was a shortage of eggs and ‘chikki’.

Meanwhile, excess stock of eggs and chikki was found in ZP High School, Yanamadala, ZP High School, Dasegownuru, and ZPHS, Reddipalli Agraharam.

MDM logo was not found on the rice bags in Government High School, Mulaguntapadu, Z.P. High School, Uppugunduru, Z.P High School, Vinayagapuram, and ZP High School, T. Sundupalli.

In most of the schools, the V&E officials observed that hygienic condition was not maintained in kitchen sheds.
