Vidya Deevena: Rs.30.50 cr credited to bank accounts in NTR district

Around Rs.30.50 crore was credited into the bank accounts of 37,736 mothers of students under the fourth phase of Jagananna Vidya Deevena, in NTR district on Wednesday.

ndhra Pradesh Planning Board Chairman and Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao and others distributed the cheque at a function held at the SRR & CVR Government Degree College in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the fourth phase of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme for fees reimbursement at Madanapalle in Annamayya district. The district officials and people’s representatives attended the programme virtually from the SRR & CVR College.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vishnu said that the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme was launched for the benefit of financially weak students who wish to go for higher studies. The State government is providing Rs.10,000 for ITI students, Rs.15,000 for Polytechnic students and Rs.20,000 for Degree, Medicine and Engineering students for food, he said.

He said that the State government completely transformed the education sector by providing infrastructure facilities under the Manabadi Nadu-Nedu scheme. “YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the only chief minister who is working for skill development and welfare of the student community,” he added.

Collector Dilli Rao said that 42,524 students of 211 colleges, where they were pursuing ITI, Polytechnic, Degree, Engineering, BEd, Agricultural, Medicine and Nursing courses, had benefited from the scheme.

Vijayawada Deputy Mayor Avuthu Sri Sailaja, SRR & CVR Government Degree College Principal Dr K Bhagya Lakshmi, Social Welfare Deputy Director BV Vijaya Bharathi and Tribal Welfare Officer Rukmangadaya attended the programme.
