Kollywood superstar Suriya is gearing up for the grand worldwide release of his much-anticipated film Retro on May 1. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and featuring Pooja Hegde as the female lead, Retro is produced under the 2D Entertainment banner, spearheaded by Suriya and Jyothika. The film’s Telugu distribution is being handled by the renowned Sitara Entertainments.
Ahead of its release, a lavish pre-release event was held on Saturday evening at JRC Convention Centre in Hyderabad. The event saw the presence of several celebrities, with popular Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda attending as the chief guest.
Taking to the stage, Vijay Deverakonda delivered an emotional and inspiring speech, expressing his admiration for Suriya and extending his best wishes for Retro.
“Namaste to everyone. I hope you’re all doing well. Before talking about the film, I would like to pay my respects to the victims of the Pahalgam incident,” Vijay began, acknowledging the tragic event with a moment of respect.
He continued with a heartfelt note about Suriya:
“I’m happy to be here to promote Suriya anna’s movie. I fell in love with his acting after watching Ghajini. I was curious to know who he was and watched all his other films. Suriya Son of Krishnan was especially close to my heart. The Chanchala song moved me emotionally and has remained a beautiful memory. Watching Suriya anna on screen, I was in awe of his physique, acting, and dance. I once dreamed of meeting him, and now sharing the stage with him is an unforgettable moment. I truly admire him as an actor.” Vijay also praised Suriya’s commitment to choosing diverse and meaningful projects, saying, “His choice of films inspires others in the industry, and he always explores different genres.” Reflecting on Suriya’s social contributions, he added, “Through the Agaram Foundation, Suriya anna has supported countless students, and he inspires me to do the same. I hope everyone enjoys Retro when it releases on May 1.”
Adding to the excitement, Suriya’s upcoming project with director Venky Atluri under the Sitara Entertainments banner was officially announced, signaling a strong connection with the Telugu audience going forward.
