Commissioner of Police A. Ravi Shankar has issued guidelines to the management of hotels, clubs, pubs, and private event organisers, urging them to seek permission if they intend to host events on New Year’s Eve. The guidelines emphasise adherence to safety regulations outlined in the A.P. Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act, 2013.
Under the issued guidelines, the organisers are required to seek permission for New Year’s Eve events. According to the Act, CCTV cameras with recording capabilities must be installed at all entry and exit points of establishments, as well as in parking zones. Special parking arrangements should be made to manage the expected increase in visitors, and organisers must ensure there is no traffic obstruction outside their premises.
The guidelines also specify standards for performances, stating that there should be no obscenity or nudity. Sound levels are to be maintained at 45 decibels or less. Events organised for couples, as well as those in pubs and bars, should prohibit the entry of minors. The Commissioner has cautioned against issuing passes or tickets exceeding the venue’s capacity, as this could lead to law-and-order problems.
Commissioner Ravi Shankar issued strict warnings against allowing the consumption of drugs or narcotic and psychotropic substances during the events. Organisers are urged to prioritise safety and adhere to the guidelines to ensure a secure and enjoyable New Year’s celebration for all.
