NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao has emphasised the need for cooperation from voluntary organisations to make NTR district a Tuberculosis (TB)-free district.
As part of the ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukth Bharat Abhiyan’, the Indian Red Cross Society district unit organised distribution of nutritious food kits for TB patients at the Pingali Venkaiah Spandana Meeting Hall at Collectorate in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
The Collector said that the State government was conducting various programmes to eradicate TB from the State. With the support of voluntary organizations and companies’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, the district unit is doing several programmes, he said.
He appreciated the Canara Bank, which has come forward to distribute nutritious food kits worth Rs.2 lakh to 500 patients. “There is no need to worry about TB. Every person has the disease’s symptoms, but due to the decrease in immunity power, bacteria have developed,” he said.
He urged TB patients to take medicines regularly and have nutritious food. The Indian Red Cross Society will supply nutritious food to the patients for six months, he added.
Red Cross Society chairman Dr G Samaram, DM&HO Dr M Suhasini, District TB Controlling Officer Dr Usha Rani, and Canara Bank Divisional Manager A Sudhakar were present.
