Self-inflicted attitude of the Telangana BJP paid heavy price in the state assembly elections though the BJP got recognition that it is an alternative to ruling BRS party winning Dubbaka, Huzurabad by-polla and winning 45 corporators in Hyderabad city.
However, the fell down like playing cards building to a third position with the removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the president of the Telangana BJP besides non-arrest of BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in connection with Delhi liquor scam though the BJP top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and all national leader whoever comes to Telangana stated that they will take an action against the corrupt CM KCR family. The party also suddenly stopped the very successful padayatras of Bandi Sanjay Kumar without giving any reason.
Everyone has stated that the BJP itself handed over its place to the Congress party by committing mistakes. Many leaders like Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Vivek Venkata Swamy, Vijayashanthi and others have left the BJP alleging that the party will not become an alternative to the BRS party. In fact, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and Vivek have won the elections with a huge majority against their opponents from the BRS party.
Due to its own mistakes, the Telangana BJP leaders—Eatala Rajender lost elections from two assembly constituencies— Huzurabad and Gajwel. The sitting MPs—Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Dharmapuri Arvind and Soyam Bapurao lost elections. Big relief for the party is that it won 8 MLAs—Once again sitting MLA T Raja Singh won the elections from Goshamahal assembly constituency.
The party contested from 111 assembly constituencies and won from 8 places—Kamareddy (Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy), Mudhol (Ramarao Pawar), Adilabad (Payal Shankar), Armoor (Paidi Rakesh Reddy), Dhanapal Suryanarayana (Nizamabad Urban), Raja Singh (Goshamahal), Nirmal (Aleti Maheshwar Reddy), Palvai Harish Rao (Sirpur).
The party got 14 percent vote bank in these elections. Once again T Raja Singh created a history by winning election alone from Hyderabad.
