Sanjay Rao and Pranavi Manukonda starrer Slum Dog Husband, directed by Puri Jagannadh disciple Dr. AR Sridhar is all ready to be released in theatres on July 29. Reliance Entertainment is releasing the movie which is produced by Appireddy and Venkat Annapareddy under Mike Movies banner.

Ahead of the film’s release, Sanjay Rao interacted with the media here in the city and said that this film came to him from his father. Sharing how he came on board, the O Pitta Katha star said, “The director laughed a lot while telling me the story. I liked the concept and I immediately said ok. After O Pitta Katha, I did a web series. It didn’t do much in Telugu but it did well in Hindi. After that, I took a gap to prove myself as an actor. O Pitta Katha played very well in OTT. Not many people know but it achieved the fastest 100 million views on Amazon.”

The actor who was struggling to prove his acting prowess struggled a lot filming Slum Dog initially, and came under a lot of stress. However, after listening to the positive response the movie’s trailer got, he now feels relieved. Well, these positive feedbacks are given by some renowned actors in the industry.

Sharing one such feedback he got from Icon star Allu Arjun, Sanjay, who is the son of very popular character artist Brahmaji, said, “Allu Arjun spoke to my father during the shooting of Pushpa and said ‘Brahmaji your son’s movie trailer is amazing. I don’t know how the movie is going to be but the trailer is very good’.”

This compliment by Allu Arjun aka Bunny means a lot to him, as he takes full inspiration from him to be a successful actor. He continued, “I came into the industry because of my father. But I want to work hard like Bunny. I know Bunny’s Journey. Everyone outside thinks that he is a son of a big producer and he can get anything he wants easily. But the story is different. My father used to tell me every day how difficult it was for him.”

And his struggles seem to be paying off now. For the unknown, Sanjay was working in the Navy before he made a switch in career to films. He went to an acting school in Mumbai after actress Lavanya Tripathi suggested to his father about it. He recalled being looking down on Hyderabadis then and now he is happy that south industry is setting a benchmark in movies.

Coming back to his film, as the title of the film suggests, Slum Dog Husband, a dog plays a key role in the movie. Being a dog lover himself, it was very easy for Sanjay to pull off his scene with the dog named Baby in the movie.

The film has small screen actress Pranavi play the female lead. Revealing some details about her role, Sanjay shared, “In regular movies, the heroine means glamour. But Pranavi’s role in this movie will be full length. She has a very important character. Many people think that there will be double meaning dialogues in this movie. There is no such thing. Generally, boyfriend and girlfriend talk at night. That is the reality. Young audience will connect to this reality in the movie.” On the work front, Sanjay has two films in which he plays the protagonist and the shoot of one film has already begun.
