Replying to the question asked by Member of Rajya Sabha Parimal Nathwani, about various skill development-related initiatives and the number of jobs generated by these initiatives along with the top five segments generating employment, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrashekhar said that under Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry scheme Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), total 71,558 people have been placed in Andhra Pradesh from 2018-19 till December 2022. Electronics and Hardware, Apparel, Logistics, Retail, and IT-ITeS have been the top five sectors in terms of the highest employment to persons trained under PMKVY in Andhra Pradesh According to the statement of the minister, a total of 17,29,389 people have been placed since 2018-19 under PMKVY in different states and union territories of the country. In Andhra Pradesh, Electronics and Hardware have been the top sector to employ 18,414 people trained under PMKVY, followed by the apparel sector (18,036), Logistics (15,959), Retail (9,916), and IT-ITeS (5,370).
Under the Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) delivers skill training through a comprehensive network of skill development centres/institutes across the country under various schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS), through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), according to the statement of the minister. It also added that amongst the schemes of the MSDE, placements are specifically tracked under PMKVY.
