A Class 10 dropout practising Allopathic medicine arrested

A Class 10 dropout, Akash Kumar Biswas, was arrested at Shivunipally under Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district on the charge of practising Allopathic medicine without an authorised certificate. Warangal Task force sleuths, along with State Ghanpur police, raided the clinic run by the quack and arrested Biswas, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vaibhav Gaikwad.

Acting on a tip of information, the police raided the Biswas clinic and found him giving prescriptions and medicines to patients. He was, on average, the DCP said, had been receiving 30 patients a month. He was practising medicine for the last 10 years and during that time, he could have treated at least 3,650 patients, he observed.

The Police Commissioner’s Task Force police, accompanied by the District Medical and Health Officer, conducted a raid on the clinic, named as Priyanka Clinic, at Shivunipally under Station Ghanpur.

The police said that Biswas was running the clinic without a valid certificate. He had been taking gullible people for a ride all these years. The quack, the police said, had claimed that he could treat ‘piles, fissures, bleeding piles, fissures, fistula and hydrocele ailment.’

The police said that the quack used to charge Rs 100 as the consultation fees for each patient and refer patients who required critical care to different hospitals. Enquiries revealed that the quack was a Class 10 dropout. He had worked with his grandfather, who was also a quack. He started the clinic to make easy money.
