Three killed, 10 injured as bus rams into tractor

Three persons were killed and 10 others suffered injuries as a TSRTC Garuda bus rammed into a sugarcane-laden tractor from behind at Mummalapalli under Kottakota mandal in Wanparthy district in the early hours of Monday. The accident happened on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway at Mummalpalli village.

While two persons were killed on the spot, one more passenger died while undergoing treatment in Wanaparthy Government Hospital. The driver of the bus and cleaner were among the dead. The dead were identified as Anjaneylu (43), the driver, Sandeep (35), the cleaner and Shivanna (56). The injured were admitted to Government Hospital in Wanaparthy.

According to police, there were 48 passengers in the bus when it met with an accident. The impact of the collision left the front portion of the bus mangled. The accident caused a 4-km-long traffic jam on the highway. The accident happened around 12.30 am on Monday, according to Kottakota Sub-Inspector of Police Nagasekhar Reddy. The bus belonged to Miyapur depot in Hyderabad.
