All steps taken to procure paddy from farmers: Min

Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy has made it clear that all steps have been taken to procure paddy from farmers at MSP.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said that all steps were taken to purchase paddy produce from the farmers by paying remunerative prices and he dismissed allegations made by the Opposition leaders that the government failed in purchasing paddy produce from the farmers.

He reiterated that the government is committed to purchasing farm produce from the farmers by paying remunerative prices. “No limit is set for the procurement of paddy. No need for the father to agitate to sell their paddy produce as the paddy purchasing is being carried out in a transparent manner across the state”, he informed.

“After the YSRCP came to power, the paddy production increased to 14 lakh tonnes. The government has taken steps to purchase paddy produce from the farmer by paying remunerative prices. The government has also taken steps to ensure that the rice millers and lorry owners do not fleece the paddy farmers,” Kakani Govardhan Reddy informed.

He said that the paddy produce is being purchased at the Rythu Bharosa Kendras and the government bears the transport charges and supplies gunny bags to the farmers at free of cost.
