Andhra Pradesh overall champions in athletics

The hosts Andhra Pradesh bagged the athletics overall championship by winning 114 medals as the third Ekalavya Model Residential Schools National Sports Meet being conducted in NTR and Guntur districts. Chhattisgarh won 78 medals and Telangana bagged 74 medals to secure second and third places, respectively. Telangana State has won a total of 135 medals (54 gold, 28 silver and 34 bronze) and tops the medals tally. Andhra Pradesh also bagged a total of 135 medals (50 gold, 44 silver and 41 medals) and putting its name in the second position in the medals tally. However, Madhya Pradesh got a total of 88 medals (26 gold medals) and stood in third place, and Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh States are in the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States won under-19 boys and girls championships respectively. In the boys’ section finals, the host Andhra Pradesh team defeated Tamil Nadu (3-0) and bagged the gold medal. In this section, Telangana State stood in third place. However, in the girls’ section, the Telangana team beat Manipur and clinched the gold medal, and in this section, the Andhra Pradesh girls secured third place and won a bronze medal.
