The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 5,500 special bus services from October 13 to 26 for the Dasara festival to various destinations.
The RTC will operate 2,700 pre-Dasara special services and 2,800 post-Dasara special services charging normal fares with the main objective not to burden the passengers during festival times.
The RTC officials stated that on normal days, APSRTC operated several services, but on festival days, additional services would be operated to major cities in the neighbouring States like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and to major towns of the State viz. , Markapuram, Ongolu, Tuni, Srikakulam and Nellore, 5,500 special services would be operated.
The officials said that 2,050 buses would be operated from Hyderabad, 440 buses from Bengaluru, and 153 buses from Chennai were being operated to various cities.
Besides, there will be 480 buses from Visakhapatnam, 355 buses from Rajahmundry, 885 buses from Vijayawada and 1,137 special buses from other districts in the State to various areas to ensure hassle-free journey of the passengers during the festival times. The officials added that they would operate special service to Kanaka Durga temple, Vijayawada, during this Navratri for Bhavani devotees. As it will be holidays for colleges, schools and offices, most of the commuters depend on APSRTC buses to reach their hometowns and APSRTC officials and the staff have made arrangements to operate 885 buses to Vijayawada from all districts in the State.
APSRTC has introduced UTS (Unified Ticketing Solution) to ease ticketing issues and the passengers can easily purchase tickets through PhonePe, Google Pay, QR code scanning and credit and debit card swiping.
For the convenience of the passengers, advance reservation for these special services has already been made available and a 10 per cent discount on fare can be availed by passengers who reserve a ticket in advance.
Tickets can also be availed through ATB agents, APSRTC app and online.
The APSRTC has deployed officers, supervisors and security personnel at various points in the district headquarters and Hyderabad for the supervision of these special services. All buses have GPS tracking and 24×7 information/problem call centre number 149 and 0866-2570005.
