With Kanti Velugu many regain eyesight in TS

A resident of Siricilla, Gaddam Vijaya, hailed the Kanti Velugu programme, after regaining her eyesight at a free eye camp. Authorities said that the testaments of the public indicate the success of Kanti Velugu programme.
Kanti Velugu eye camps that were set up across the state, have successfully treated 12,79,637 people so far and 2,94,224 glasses have been distributed so far. Eye examination camps are being organised in all municipal wards and villages. The camps are being conducted by 1,500 medical teams and will continue for 100 days.
Gaddam Vijaya, from Ambedkar Nagar, Siricilla, said, “Eye tests were done at the eye camp in Ambedkar Nagar. Doctors examined me and gave me glasses. Now my eyesight is good. It has given light to the eyes of many people like me. Thank you, KCR.”
The authorities said the second phase of the Kanti Velugu programme, which started on January 19, has achieved a better track record than its first phase conducted in 2018.
Another 63-year-old woman, Ramulamma, from Kethepalli, Nalgonda, said that she too regained her eyesight after losing it almost completely. Doctors who were conducting eye tests said that she could not see anything. She was examined and found to have minus 5 points of visual acuity. The eye camp organisers informed the woman that she would be given pointed glasses in another 15 days.
Rajya Sabha Members Badugula Lingaya Yadav and Nalgonda Collector Vinaya Krishna Reddy visited the Kethepalli centre and ensured that the woman received treatment.
They said that not only Psalamarri Ramulamma but 2,94,224 beneficiaries were tested and given glasses in the second phase of Kanti Velugu.
Camps are being organised at the Gram Panchayat and Municipal Ward centres across the state. Medical camps conduct eye tests every day from 9 am to 4 pm. This programme conducts medical camps for five days in a week.
Eye tests are done with the help of special software at the medical camps. The DEO and ANM are entering data from time to time through tabs. After the eye tests, reading glasses are distributed on the spot. Quality control teams are also conducting inspections to ensure the quality of eye tests.
Officials have plans to conduct medical camps under the auspices of collectors at 16,556 locations from January 19 to June 15. There will be 12,768 medical camps in rural areas and 3,788 medical camps in urban areas. The medical camps are getting a good response from the people.
Special eye camps were also organised for staff working in government offices in their offices, for journalists at their press clubs and for police personnel at their workplaces.
