Must read

Studio B Architects, having established a name for luxury destination hotel and resort interior design across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, brings a wide range of interior design experience, a fresh viewpoint, and uniqueness, as well as technical expertise and attention to detail, resulting in magnificent interiors. Today, we have Anil Badan, its founder and principal architect himself, who speaks of his journey and the artistic philosophy that makes the brand unique from the rest.

Starting out in a small town in Jammu, he has had his own share of significant challenges, particularly in adapting to a new environment and overcoming language barriers during my education in Kerala.

“These early struggles deeply influenced my determination to excel in the field of architecture and design. Instead of being deterred, these obstacles turned into opportunities for growth. The experience taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of pushing beyond comfort zones. It instilled a relentless drive to succeed and fueled my passion for design, propelling me forward in my career with a newfound vigour and commitment to excellence,” shares the founder.

Securing the Cloud Nine project in Kolkata marked a pivotal turning point in his career. The resounding success of this project served as a springboard, leading to a number of referrals and prestigious projects like the renowned Ramada Plaza in Varanasi. These ventures, he feels, solidified his credibility in the industry and granted him invaluable exposure in architecture and design, showcasing his ability to conceptualise and execute designs that resonated with clients and garnered recognition.

Speaking of his design philosophy, it revolves around prioritising accessibility and functionality for all. “I believe that every built structure should be designed with the masses in mind, ensuring ease of navigation and low maintenance. This principle is deeply embedded in every project I undertake. Each design element is carefully planned to strike a balance between aesthetics and practicality. By adhering to this philosophy, I aim to craft environments that cater to a wide audience, enriching their experiences while ensuring the longevity and usability of the spaces I design.”

His expertise in hospitality projects lies in harmoniously blending functionality with artistic aesthetics. Well, of course, this approach of his is grounded in a profound comprehension of the industry’s unique demands, prioritising designs that create visually striking spaces while also ensuring optimal operational efficiency. He further attributes its success to a steadfast dedication to creativity and innovation. “From its inception, we sought to push the boundaries of conventional design, consistently exploring fresh and imaginative approaches. This dedication to originality has allowed us to craft unique, standout projects that resonate with clients and a wider audience. Moreover, we foster a culture that encourages experimentation and the integration of cutting-edge technologies, ensuring our designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally efficient. This infusion of creativity and innovation has positioned Studio B Architects as a dynamic force in the industry, consistently delivering exceptional and forward-thinking design solutions.”
On a concluding note for aspiring architects and designers, he suggests, “Perseverance is the key to success. Be discerning in the opportunities you pursue, prioritising projects that align with your long-term vision. Creativity, accessibility, and functionality should be at the forefront of your designs. Success in this field demands dedication and the courage to overcome challenges. Remember, every project, regardless of its scale, contributes to your journey in this dynamic industry. Stay committed to honing your craft, and let each endeavour be a stepping stone towards achieving your aspirations in the world of architecture and design.”
