Cantonment MLA byelection not to be unanimous

Must read

The byelection for Cantonment MLA necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Lasya Nanditha is not going to be unanimous.
Neither the Congress nor the BJP are interested in making it unanimous. BJP candidate Sri Ganesh who lost by 17,169 votes to Lasya Nanditha in 2023 is actively campaigning in the constituency.
He was seen along with Eatala Rajender who is Malkajgiri MP candidate. Congress sources said that every seat is important when the margin is 64.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy himself has inaugurated various things related to the constituency in the past week, including setting foundation stone for skyways and the problem of transfer of property tax arrears which has been pending for 10 years. The CM released the dues of Rs 48.53 crore. Dr GV Venella, daughter of Gaddar lost in Cantonment and came in third place in 2023 elections.
Congress is evaluating options and is learnt to have reached out to prominent BRS leaders of the area. Highly placed sources said that Congress leaders have reached out to Krishank Manne, to return to Congress as the ruling party is keenly interested in making a dent to BRS by pulling out KTR’s close aide.
Considering past history of the BRS, KCR might give the ticket to the family of Lasya Nanditha. However, what took the Cantonment residents by surprise is neither the family held a Dashadina ceremony of Lasya nor the party. If not for the family, Krishank Manne, Gajjela Nagesh and Errolla Srinivas are potential candidates for BRS.
Congress sources said, “This is the first seat that is going to go out of BRS hands in Hyderabad. In politics, we reach out to many people and if a person is a winning horse, why not.”
