Cases against Malla Reddy and  IT official

Cases were registered on Thursday by the police here against the Telangana Minister of Labour and Employment, Ch. Malla Reddy, for allegedly hindering the duties of Income Tax officials during their searches and against an IT department official following a complaint by the Minister’s son, police said.

Based on the complaints, a ‘Zero FIR’ was registered (pertaining to both cases) at the Bowenpally police station. The FIR will be transferred to Dundigal police station for investigations, they said.

The IT official in his complaint said that Malla Reddy and his family had interfered with his duties and that he was detained and his belongings were taken away by them. Accordingly, a case was registered against the Minister, police said.

Similarly, the Minister’s younger son, filed a complaint with the police alleging that his elder brother was forced to sign some documents by the IT official, a senior police official said.

Following the complaint and counter-complaint cases were registered as a ‘Zero FIR’, the official said.On Wednesday, Malla Reddy had accused CRPF personnel, who had accompanied Income Tax department officials during the searches carried out at his residence and educational institutions of ‘beating up’ his son.

The IT sleuths, who carried out the searches on Tuesday and Wednesday checked the tax records of Malla Reddy and the educational institutions belonging to him and his family members, sources privy to the development said.

Raids were also carried out at Malla Reddy’s educational institutions. A Zero FIR is an FIR filed in any police station regardless of whether the offence was committed in an area under its jurisdiction.
