The Telangana Government spent a staggering Rs 15,961 crore in 141 municipalities across the State excluding Hyderabad in the last eight years, which no other State has done, said MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao.

He said that a report on this would be distributed among all MLAs, MLCs, MPs, during the next Assembly session and to Municipal Commissioners, Assistant Collector Local Bodies (ACLB) too to let them know how the government has been trying to improve towns.

KTR said that it includes the money spent on Pattana Pragathi, CM assurances, Mission Bhagiratha, and other works.

“The development in Telangana is something that the Centre cannot ignore. The frog in the well mentality needs to go. We are not able to appreciate the change in Telangana. Take a break and go to other states. You will appreciate Telangana. I suggest to our MLAs to take people to other states and show them the situation there and they will win elections easily,” KTR said.

He spoke about the Telangana State Building Permission Approval & Self Certification System (TS-bPASS) and said that no other State had introduced legislation which helps citizens get approvals in such a transparent manner.

He was addressing Municipal Commissioners, ACLBs and others at a workshop on Pattana Pragathi in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Appreciating officials and staff for winning 26 awards in Swachh Survekshan–2022, he said that the Centre’s awards are a testament to the commitment by people in the State. KTR said that 42 out of 141 Municipalities had achieved ODF++ status and asked Municipal Commissioners and ACLBs of the remaining 99 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to focus on achieving the distinction.
