The trough extending from South Interior Karnataka to the Comorin area now stretches from Rayalaseema to the Comorin area at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level, according to the Meteorological Centre.
In its daily weather update, the Centre noted that the Southwest monsoon has been weak over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal over Rayalaseema. Due to this system, heavy rain is expected at isolated locations in Rayalaseema over the next five days.
Thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds, ranging from 30 to 40 km/h, are anticipated at isolated locations in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during this period. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at various places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next seven days.
Over the past 24 hours, heavy rainfall has been reported in the Chittoor and Annamayya districts of Rayalaseema, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema experienced rainfall at one or two locations.
