Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed delight over Telangana chess player Uppala Praneeth, (16), qualifying for the ‘World Chess Federation Grandmaster’ rank.
Praneeth gained international fame in chess at a very young age. As the Federation announced him as Grandmaster, KCR invited Praneeth and his parents to the secretariat on Monday.
The CM congratulated Praneeth’s parents who worked hard and trained him well. The Chief Minister said that Praneeth’s passion for Chess and his hard work made him a Grandmaster.
He said he hoped Praneeth will attain more heights and bring laurels to Telangana and to India in future. The CM made it clear that the TS government will extend all support to Praneeth.
KCR announced a grant of Rs 2.50 crore to Praneeth to undergo training and for meeting other expenses. Praneeth’s parents thanked the CM.
The CM said that Praneeth’s rise as a grandmaster is proof that the TS government is providing incentives to sportspersons and that the measures taken for developing sports are yielding results.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated Veerlapalli Nandita, (19) on being recognised as a ‘Woman Candidate Master’ by the World Chess Federation.
KCR announced a gift of Rs 50 lakh to Nadita to undergo advanced training and for other expenses.
The CM said that he hopes Nandita will attain many heights at the international level. He instructed his secretary Bhupal Reddy to take immediate action regarding this.
