Citizens will soon be able to access all their important documents directly from their mobile phones, eliminating the need to carry physical copies. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and efficiency in public services.
Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary of the state’s ITE&C and RTG Departments, highlighted the progress during a review meeting on Friday. He pointed out that the absence of a centralised data system across government departments has posed technical challenges in delivering seamless services to citizens. To address this, the government is working towards integrating data from various departments into a unified system.
Under the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the objective is to enable citizens to access all government services through their mobile phones, eliminating the need to visit government offices. As part of this effort, the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) is developing a comprehensive data lake to consolidate information across all state departments.
As a major step in this direction, the government recently launched WhatsApp Governance, allowing citizens to access 163 government services via WhatsApp. Going forward, this platform will also provide access to key certificates, including educational qualifications, caste, income, birth, and death certificates. Citizens will be able to download these documents directly from WhatsApp, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.
The WhatsApp Governance service will also allow citizens to file complaints, raise grievances, and make payments through the platform. Currently available in Telugu and English, the service will soon be expanded to regional languages such as Kannada, Odia, and Tamil to cater to a wider population.
Additionally, citizens will be able to store their certificates securely in DigiLockers for easy and hassle-free access whenever required.
For the seamless implementation of this system, Bhaskar Katamneni emphasised the need for faster data integration between departments. He directed each department to appoint a Chief Data Technical Officer (CDTO) within two days and to complete the data integration process within a week.
Key officials present at the meeting included K. Dinesh Kumar (CEO, RTGS), Madhuri (Deputy CEO), Saurabh Gaur (Special Chief Secretary, Civil Supplies), Srikanth (IG, Technical Services), Veerapandian (Commissioner, Health & Family Welfare), Shivaprasad (Director, GSWS), and others.
