To meet the water demand in the city, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is appointing 200 more drivers for the water tankers.
HMWSSB Managing Director  Sudarshan Reddy said that the water board has taken action in the wake of increasing demand for tankers due to the depletion of underground water in the city. 20 new filling stations, third shift and additional tankers and drivers are already being provided.
On Saturday HMWSSB released a press note, where it mentioned that a one-day orientation programme was conducted for these 200 drivers today at HMWSSB head office. All of them will be working in the third shift recently arranged by the water body to supply water to commercial consumers during the night hours.
Third shift has already started in some areas of the city. On Friday a total of 800 trips of water tankers were supplied to the consumers. Apart from that, additional tanker filling points have been set up at some filling stations.  Along with this, with the arrival of new drivers, the water body will provide more services to the users at night.  As the traffic problem is less, the water board is appealing to the commercial users to book tankers at night.  Revenue Director VL Praveen Kumar, Operation Directors Swamy, Vijay Rao and other officers participated in this programme.
