Minister for Municipal Administration Audimulapu Suresh has strongly objected to politicisation of the construction of houses for the poor by the government.

In a statement here on Sunday, the minister said that the State government had taken the distribution of house sites and construction of houses for the poor as a prestigious project. Unfortunately, the Jana Sena Party is trying to politicise the issue for its political mileage, he flayed.

Audimulapu Suresh said, “The Opposition parties are trying to politicise the construction of houses, which is being ambitiously undertaken by the State government. They should mend their ways, otherwise, the people will turn against them.”

The minister took strong exception to the JSP for making a political issue about the construction of houses in Jagananna colonies and TIDCO houses. The minister reminded that the beneficiaries of TIDCO houses asked the JSP leaders to leave their colony in Mangalagiri when the JSP leaders went to the TIDCO housing complex on Sunday which reflected the mood of the people.“The JSP leaders are trying to gain political mileage by spreading misleading and false information on the Jagananna colonies and TIDCO houses. But the people will not allow them to do so”, the minister felt.

The minister explained that the construction of 40,576 TIDCO houses had already been completed and they were handed over to the beneficiaries after providing all the facilities. The government had taken steps to complete the construction of 1,10,672 houses expeditiously and they would be ready to be handed over to the beneficiaries by December 2022.

Minister Audimulapu Suresh informed that the government would take steps to complete the construction of the remaining 1,10,968 TIDCO houses by March 2023. As promised in the election manifesto, the government would register a 300 square feet house to 1,43,600 beneficiaries for just one rupee as per its assurances in the manifesto, the minister reiterated, stating that the government would spend Rs 3,805 crore for the housing projects.

“In the erstwhile TDP government, the TIDCO houses were handed over to the beneficiaries without providing basic amenities. But the YSRCP-led government is providing all basic amenities and needed infrastructures like roads, drains, drinking water, and electricity to the TIDCO houses,” he claimed.

The minister lashed out at the Janasena for politicising the TIDCO houses and pointed out that the objections raised by the beneficiaries to the JDP leaders in Mangalagiri clearly indicated that the JSP was politicising the issue for mileage. The JSP leaders would taste the wrath of people across the state if they went to the TIDCO housing colonies.
