Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar has announced that tenders have been invited for the Kakinada-Srikakulam Natural Gas Pipeline Project.
In a statement issued on Friday, the MP said he had made significant efforts to ensure the execution of the pipeline project via Visakhapatnam to facilitate the supply of natural gas.
“I appealed to Natural Gas Regulation Board Chairman Anil Kumar Jain on October 21, 2024, and submitted a representation urging steps to expedite the Kakinada-Srikakulam pipeline project. In response, Natural Gas Regulation Board Secretary Anjan Kumar Mishra informed me that the process of inviting bids for the project has commenced,” the MP stated.
MP Mahesh Kumar noted that recognising the importance of the pipeline project to Andhra Pradesh, the Natural Gas Regulation Board decided to entrust the responsibility for the pipeline to GAIL.
The Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation Limited (APGDC) has taken over the pipeline that has been laid so far in the state. The tendering process for the 290-km-long pipeline has begun, with the pre-bid conference scheduled for January 17 and the last date for submitting bids set for April 16, the MP disclosed.
The MP further announced that work on the gas pipeline would commence after the tender process is completed, asserting that the mega natural gas pipeline project is being realised due to his persistent efforts. He expressed gratitude to the officials concerned for their positive response.
