Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday sought the support of NITI Aayog to realise the vision of Swarnandhra-2047, which aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a State of “One Family-One AI Professional, One Entrepreneur.”
Welcoming NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman Bery at the State Secretariat, Chandrababu Naidu outlined the vast opportunities available in the state and the developmental initiatives planned. He emphasised the need for technological assistance and policy support from NITI Aayog to achieve the ambitious goals set under Swarnandhra-2047.
The Chief Minister highlighted that by 2047, Andhra Pradesh aims to establish a $2.4 trillion economy, achieving an annual growth rate of 15 per cent and a per capita income of $42,000. He expressed confidence that with the support of NITI Aayog, the state would emerge as a model for Viksit Bharat-2047.
In response, Suman Bery observed that this is an opportune time for collaboration between the Centre and the state.
He acknowledged the potential for development and assured NITI Aayog’s support in this endeavour.
Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that Swarnandhra-2047 focuses on economic growth, skill development, industrialisation, and stability. He envisions Andhra Pradesh as a global leader in human resource development and good governance. However, he also pointed out key challenges, including unresolved financial issues post-bifurcation and the loss of Hyderabad, which was a major revenue engine for the state.
He criticised the previous government for neglecting capital expenditure over the past five years and failing to provide basic infrastructure. Nevertheless, he affirmed that efforts are underway to harness available resources and overcome these challenges.
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s strategic advantages, Chandrababu Naidu noted that the state has the third-largest coastline in India with robust connectivity through roads, ports, and railways. He also spoke about the three existing industrial corridors and the state’s strategic position as a gateway to East and Southeast Asia, attracting investments in renewable energy and data technology.
The Chief Minister urged NITI Aayog to support the transformation of Visakhapatnam into an economic hub, alongside developing Amaravati and Tirupati as regional growth centres. He proposed joint efforts between the state and NITI Aayog to strengthen industrial corridors, skilling hubs, smart cities, and basic infrastructure.
He further suggested that developing the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore region—home to three seaports and three airports—into a tri-city cluster would accelerate growth. Recalling his role in establishing Genome Valley in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, where 700 companies are currently operational, he expressed his commitment to implementing similar progressive policies in the state.
The Chief Minister also revealed plans to install solar rooftops at all bus stations and introduce over 11,000 electric buses in the state as part of the green energy initiative.
After the discussions, Chandrababu Naidu personally accompanied Suman Bery to his car, giving him a warm send-off.
