Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao decision to contest from the two seats of Gajwel and Kamareddy has raised eyebrows.

When asked why he is contesting from two seats, the BRS chief said, “The party decided, so I am contesting. What’s the issue? You know my history. I contested from Karimnagar and won. Then I went to Mahbubnagar and won.

Now our Kamareddy MLA and Nizamabad leaders personally asked me to contest. There is nothing extraordinary in it.”

Political analysts asked if he is confident of winning why is he contesting from two constituencies. This would result in a by-election if he wins both seats. Political analysts think that KCR may give one more candidate a chance.

Sitting Kamareddy MLA Gampa Govardhan got 68,167 votes in the Telangana by-election held in 2018. Gampa bagged around 42.02 per cent of the votes. The Congress candidate Shabbir Ali bagged 63,610 votes which came to 39.21 per cent of the votes cast. Gampa got a majority of only 4,557 votes which led to a heated debate at that time.
