Krishna district displayed an excellent show at the Inter-District Fencing Championship, which was held at Kakinada from December 5 to 6. The district won two gold medals and a bronze medal in the State-level championship.
According to combined Krishna district fencing team coach Daniyala Nagaraju, the under-14 girls’ team won a bronze medal. D Naga Priyusha (St Johns High School, Gannavaram), KVS Mahitha (St Thomas, Nuzvid), J Anusha (ZPHS Gollanapall) and K Sree Anush (ZPHS, Chekkapalli) performed well, he said.
Also, V Rahul (Sri Siddhartha Junior College, Nuzvid) bagged the gold medal in Sabre individual category. KVS Mahitha (St Thomas, Nuzvid) secured third place in the under-14 girls’ Sabre individual event, he added.
Meanwhile, he said V Rahul (under-18) from Nuzivd had been selected for the national championship which will be held at Nasik in Maharashtra. In the under-14 category, D Naga Priyusha (Gannavaram) and KVS Mahitha were also selected to the nationals, which will be conducted in Kerala, he said Krishna District Fencing Association Secretary Nagam Satish Babu appreciated medal winners.
