Mahalakshmi scheme 6.50 cr women travelled free in TS: Dy CM Bhatti

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said it was a great thing that 6.50 crore women have travelled under the Mahalakshmi scheme and steps should be taken to implement this scheme in a peaceful environment.
He congratulated the TSRTC staff and officials for successfully implementing the free women bus facility scheme.
Bhatti Vikramarka conducted a review meeting on Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) at Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The government would provide full support to TSRTC on behalf of the Finance department. Vikramarka said, “Orders have been given to the finance department officials to provide the necessary funds to the organisation as per the management cost. A decision would be ctaken soon on the funds related to the dues of the staff, company debts, PF, CCS and other settlements. The officials should focus on alternative sources of income and increase the management capacity.”
RTC officials said that under the Mahalakshmi scheme, an average of 27 lakh women travel every day and zero tickets worth around Rs10 crore are being issued. The Deputy Chief Minister assured that the government will provide the necessary funds for day-to-day operations.
Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar said that the RTC is a people’s organisation and the government will take the responsibility to protect it. The organisation is thinking about alternative sources of income and apart from ticket income, it is focusing on logistics, commercial and other non-ticket income.
Chief Secretary of Finance department Ramakrishna Rao, TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar, Deputy Chief Minister’s OSD Krishna Bhaskar, TSRTC EDs Muni Shekhar, Krishna Kant, Finance Adviser Vijaya Pushpa, CME Raghunatha Rao and others participated in the review meeting.
