Minister vows to develop Karimnagar as model city

Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar on Monday vowed to develop Karimnagar as a model city. He directed the officials to develop an efficient drainage system and complete the construction of cable bridge and island at a fast pace to enhance the beauty of the city.

The Minister was holding a review meeting with the District Collector, Additional Collector (Local Bodies) and officials of various departments, besides stakeholders on developmental activities under progress.

Kamalakar laid the foundation stone for developmental activities to be taken up at a cost of Rs 14.20 lakh at Katta Rampur area in the city. The developmental works to be taken up include drainage systems and building cement concrete roads in the area. He inaugurated a sports meet at Ambedkar stadium on the occasion of International Day of Disabled Persons.

Speaking at the review meeting, the Minister stressed the need to ensure that the farmers are not subjected to any kind of inconvenience. The State government has introduced several programmes for the welfare and protection of farmers. The officials should extend all help to farmers, he said.

Kamalakar directed the officials to ensure paddy procurement at the procurement centres at a fast pace. There should not be any delay in transportation and procurement of paddy, he said.

The Minister stressed the need to motivate farmers to take up oil palm cultivation. The district administration should ensure that loans are granted to farmers who will take up oil palm cultivation. He gave several suggestions in regard to the construction of an integrated market in the city.

District Collector R V Karnan, Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Garima Agrawal, city Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijay, SUDA chairman G V Krishan Rao, Deputy Mayor Chall Swaruparani, Kothapalli Municipal Chairman Rudra Raju and others were present.
