Telangana Additional Director General of Police M Mahesh Bhagwat on Thursday distributed newly purchased Fingerprint Equipment Kits across all zones.
The equipment has been acquired under the police modernisation funds at the cost of Rs 1.33 crore. They were distributed to figureprint units of LB Nagar zone of Rachakonda, South Zone, West Zone, Central Zone, North Zone of Hyderabad City and Shamshabad zone of Cyberabad.
Following the distribution, Bhagwat also observed their functioning. The following items were distributed by the CID chief, Master Expert Latent Print Kit: This kit includes essential development powders, brushes, lifting tapes, lifting pads, magnifying lenses, scissors, markers, and other necessary items for the development of latent prints at crime scenes. Fingerprint Chemical Processing Kit: It comprises basic chemical processing items like Iodine fuming and ninhydrin kit which are useful in development of chance prints on porous surfaces like documents, walls, etc.
Latent print brushes used for development of chance and would be used to replace the brushes in the Master Expert Latent Print Kit when they are exhausted. Magnetic Powder Applicator Kit has magnetic powders along with magnetic brush which is useful for development of chance prints on multicoloured surfaces where basic development powders are not very effective.
Post-mortem ink tool kit contains rollers, ink tubes, ink pad, ink strips and special cadaveric spoon which are used to obtain fingerprints of deceased, when required.
Inked strips useful for obtaining fingerprints of a person quickly which is not possible with regular ink pads, rollers, etc; magnetic powder used to replace powers in magnetic powder applicator kit when the powders get exhausted.
Latent print basic powders will be used to replace powers in Master Expert Latent Print Kit when the powders get exhausted; and portable multiband light source would be used for detection of biological evidence including chance prints. It also helps for checking clarity of chance prints and for photography of chance prints.
