Telangana’s Pattana Pragati programme was on Thursday adjudged the best initiative under the PM Svanidhi scheme.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Harshdeep Puri felicitated Telangana State at the Vigyan Bhavan on the occasion of three years of PM Svanidhi – Empowering Nano Entrepreneurs.
Special Chief Secretary to the government of Telangana Arvind Kumar took to Twitter and said, “Telangana is among the best performing states in the country in @pmsvanidhi.”
The Telangana government launched the Pattana Pragathi programme across all urban local bodies as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in February 2020. As per the scheme, street vendors’ development was initiated.
Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao ordered issuance of working capital loans to all street vendors and develop vending zones in ULBs. Telangana is the first state to waive the stamp duty in full for the loans under PM Svanidhi with coterminous provisions of the scheme.
In the first phase upto Rs 10,000 per street vendor, was sanctioned to 3,58,776 street vendors (106%) loans sanctioned and Rs 353.17 crore disbursed to 3,56,678 SVs (105%) against the original target of 3,40,000 and later enhanced to 4,00,000 in September 2022.
Telangana was first state in the country to achieve 100% disbursements in first tranche loans as per the original target. In the category of less than one lakh population towns (3,555) in the country, all the top 10 positions in the country are cities from Telangana, Siddipet in 1st position, Sircilla in 2nd, Nirmal in 3rd, Kamareddy in 4th, Bodhan in 5th, Zaheerabad in 6th, Sangareddy in 7th, Manchiryal in 8th, Palwancha in 9th & Armoor in 10th position.
In the category of 1 to 10 lakh population cities (442) in the country, GWMC stands first in the country followed by Nizamabad in the 10th position
In the category of 8 Mega Cities (40 lakh population), GHMC stands in third position in country.
Further, in the second phase (upto Rs 20,000 per SV), 1,53,306 SVs (106%) loans sanctioned and Rs 292.60 crore disbursed to 1,46,692 SVs (101%) as against the target of 1,45,100 SVs.
