The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Sunday demolished a portion of Deccan Kitchen Hotel in Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills. The hotel is owned by Nanda Kumar, one of the three accused in the TRS MLA poaching case.

The town planning wing of the GHMC conducted the demolition and razed a part of the hotel stating that a few portions of the hotel were constructed without obtaining proper permission and thus it is an illegal structure. Due to the sensitivity of the case, police in large numbers were also deployed at the demolition site on Sunday.

The GHMC authorities said that they had already served three notices to the owners of the hotel and did not receive any response from them. In one of the notices served, a lease agreement was given which is not enough proof, said authorities. Nanda Kumar’s wife Chitra Lekha, while speaking to the media at the demolition site, alleged that only one notice was given to them for which they have received an order from the court as well.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had conducted searches at the hotel on Saturday and a similar search was also held at Nanda Kumar’s residence in Chaitanyapuri. The intention behind the searches was to gather more evidence pertaining to the case. The SIT was formed on November 9 to investigate the case and is being headed by Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand. The team grilled all the three accused in the poaching case on November 10 and 11.
