Despite their issues being unresolved, people attended Prajavani with the hope that their issues will be solved on Friday. A majority of petitioners filed applications with problems ranging from double-bedroom houses, six schemes or guarantees, to personal issues related to home, land and finances. In all, 502 applications were received in the Prajavani programme organised at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan.
Out of the 502 applications, 112 applications were related to revenue issues, 71 related to minority welfare, 69 related to Civil Supplies department, 42 related to Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department, 35 related to Municipal department and 173 applications related to other departments. Telangana State Planning Commission Vice-President Dr Chinna Reddy, along with Public Administration Special Officer Divya received the applications.
Speaking to the Pioneer correspondent, Thotapalli Ravikumar from Khammam district said, “I have filed an application on not receiving zero electricity bill and no gas subsidy. Despite the fact that I have related documents for them such as white ration card, electricity bill, Aadhaar card and documents for gas booking, the authorities concerned assured did not offer me a solution.”
Another petitioner, Vignesh said, “We are the residents of Sri Vigneshwara Double Bedroom Beneficiaries Social Welfare Association, Cherlapally. In our colony, about 340 families live. Though we have three borewells, only one borewell is working. Due to this, we are facing a lot of issues related to water.”
Suresh Kumar from Kacheguda said, “This is my third visit to Prajavani. I have applied for a zero electricity bill. Despite having relavent documents, the electricity department officials are harassing us to pay the bill and are trying to disconnect the power connection. Everytime I attend Prajavani regarding the updates of my situation, the officials here are delaying it.”
P Chudamani from Chikkadpally said, “Three years ago, my tenant named Padmaja rented our accommodation. She agreed to pay Rs 1500 as rent, electricity bill and water bill. However, she didn’t pay the rent properly nor pay the bills on time. When asked, the tenant abused me and threatened to kill me.”
