The Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technology (RGUKT), popularly known as the Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT)-Nuzivdu campus, has once again substantiated its mission of ‘Catering to the Educational Needs of Gifted Rural Youth of Andhra Pradesh’ by providing the best education and facilitate jobs available for the students.

As many as nine students of BTech final year Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) were selected for a one-year internship programme (up to May 2024) in Analog Devices, an American Multinational Semiconductor Company. The Analog Devices Company recently organised aptitude and technical tests to shortlist the students for long-term internships and selected nine ECE students who are studying BTech final year.

Of them, Saladi Devi Gayatri Mani (Razole), K Satyavani (Nathavaram), S Divya (Gulumuru), A Krishnaveni (Atmakur, Mangalagiri), and G Tirumala (Ulavapadu) were selected for an internship in Analog Devices at Hyderabad. Also, Peddada Venaktesh (Palleru, Vizianagaram district), Yarrmasetti Mohan (M Koduru), Sk Meharunnisa Begum (Ajith Singh Nagar, Vijayawada), and Y Dhanush Reddy (Madanapalle) were selected for an internship in Analog Devices at Bengaluru.

During their internship, all nine students would take over a stipend of up to Rs.40,000 per month. After a year-long internship programme, students will be offered employment in the same organisation based on their performance evaluation. Interestingly, all the students hailed from families below the poverty line. They studied their class 10 at government schools. After that, they opted for seats at the Nuzvid campus.

With the efforts of the IIIT Nuzvid campus faculty, all these nine students excelled in the Analog Devices aptitude and technical tests. Also, Green PMU semi, Efftronics, Chip Spirit, Xyma FPGA, IIT Madras Research Park, DRDO, IIT Madras, Global Innovation Hub (IoT domain) and other companies visited the Nuzvid campus and offered one-year internship programmes.

RGUKT Nuzvid campus Director Prof GVR Srinivasa Rao, speaking to ‘The Pioneer’, said that the ECE department had succeeded in conducting regular skill enhancement programmes in the domains of VLSI, FPGA, Embedded Systems, Communication and Signal Processing.

Further, he said that in the previous year, after the completion of an internship for one year in the Analog Devices Company, three students were absorbed into the company with an annual CTC (Cost to Company) of Rs.27 lakh per annum. With the inspiration from them, many students are preparing for the next round of campus selections, he added.

Meanwhile, he said these skill enhancement programmes were being organised in the Department with the help of the alumni, IIT faculty and industry experts. Director Srinivasa Rao congratulated all the faculty of the ECE department for their support in creating multiple career opportunities for the students.

Head of the Department P Syam said that the department of ECE prepared the curriculum by involving the country’s top academicians and industry experts to be in line with the Nation’s requirements. Especially, with a special focus on India’s Semiconductor Policy Framework, he said. He and his department thanked the university administration and Chancellor for their continuous support.

Subsequently, he said that the ECE department was well established with 16 teaching staff from eminent universities. Also, the department had eight labs, they are namely EDC lab, Computational Lab & DSP Lab, IoT Lab, Robotics Lab & MPMC Lab, VLSI Lab, AEC Lab & LIC Lab, Communication systems-1 & 2 Lab, RF & Microwave Lab, and DLD Lab, he said.
