AP BJP State president Somu Veerraju met Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush, in New Delhi on Wednesday and handed over a representation on the Central Research Institute for Naturopathy at Gannavaram and Visakhapatnam.

On the occasion, Somu Veerraju extended his wishes to the Union Minister for taking up several initiatives to promote Ayush health systems in the country.

The AP BJP leader brought to the notice of the Union Minister that the government of AP had allocated 25 acres of land at Gannavaram to set up the Naturopathy Research Institute, but till date it had not been handed over to the Central Research Institute for Naturopathy. Because of this, the 100-bed Naturopathy Medical College is yet to be started in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh had sanctioned five acres of land to set up a Naturopathy College in Visakhapatnam, but now they are claiming that the cost of the land in the allocated area is very high. They asked the Ayush department to look for land in some other location. For the last three-and-a-half years, the State government has not been supporting Ayurveda and Naturopathy.

It clearly shows their negligence towards our ancient systems of medicine. Somu Veerraju requested the Union Minister to intervene and instruct the State government to do the needful for setting up the Central Research Institute for Naturopathy.
