Minister Manohar calls on victims undergoing treatment at GGH
A 3-year-old boy, who sustained burn injuries in a fire accident in Eluru district, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar visited the victims undergoing treatment at the GGH here on the same day.
Official sources said that 14 people were injured in the fire accident, which occurred at Sobhanadripuram village in Mandavalli mandal, Eluru district, on the night of January 24. Seven of the injured were admitted to GGH here and are currently receiving treatment. One of the injured, the 3-year-old boy, passed away while undergoing treatment. The condition of two others is said to be very critical.
Nadendla Manohar visited the ICU ward and interacted with the injured. He also inquired with the doctors about their condition and the treatment being provided.
Speaking to the media later, the Minister stated that 14 people had sustained varying degrees of burns in the fire mishap and were admitted to the GGH for better care. He confirmed that the 3-year-old boy had succumbed to his injuries, while two victims were battling for their lives with 80% burns. Four others suffered 60% burns.
The Minister extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of all necessary support. He also mentioned that he would inform the Chief Minister about the incident and ensure financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
It was noted that all the injured were from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and earned a living as daily wage workers. The doctors at GGH and in Eluru are doing their best to save the victims.
Admitting the absence of a dedicated burn ward at the GGH, Minister Manohar recognised it as a significant lapse. He stressed the need for setting up a burn ward at the GGH and promised to raise the issue at the GGH development committee meeting to ensure its establishment.
Manohar further pledged to restore the past glory of the GGH and ensure that it provides the best medical treatment to its patients. RDO K. Srinivasa Rao, DMHO Dr. Vijayalakshmi, GGH Superintendent Dr. SSV Ramana, and JSP district president Gade Venkateswara Rao accompanied the Minister.
